Brokeoff Mountain Botanizing Hike

The Brokeoff Mountain Trail is said to the hardest hike in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is 7.5 miles out-and-back with a 2,500-foot elevation gain. This will be an end-of-summer hike to test your endurance and to see and identify plants that are able to withstand the high-altitude climate around 9,500 feet. We will be botanizing on the trail, so it will be a moderately paced hike, but you should only participate if you have been doing regular hikes all summer. Expect great views of the Sacramento Valley and the Battle Creek Watershed. Bring plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen, lunch, and hiking poles. Dogs are not allowed in the Park. Limited to 12 people.
