WOW POETRY OPEN MIC PRESENTS FOR THE CULTURE FRIDAYS next Feature is Shelly Conley!

Milwaukee native Shelly Conley is the city’s newest Poet Laureate. A lifelong lover of words her writing is reflective forgiving and often a call to action. She’s a seven-time member of Milwaukee’s National Poetry Slam Team and has performed on stages across the country appearing in shows panels documentaries and collaborations with local and national artists.

Shelly is the author of REWIND – A Cathartic Autobiography a blend of childhood journal entries poetry and an original soundtrack available at shellyconley.com. In April 2025 she released Freeing – A Collection of Poems a chapbook that explores liberation and personal truth.

At the core of her work is a deep belief in writing as a tool for healing truth-telling and transformation. Since 2014 she has served as Program Director and Co-Facilitator of My Sista’s KeepHer a youth organization that empowers girls through poetry and self-exploration. Her mission is rooted in radical Love even when it’s hard.
