City Youth's one and only open mic, HWAITING (화이팅)! is celebrating its FIRST BIRTHDAY! And we want YOU there. 🫵
City Youth is a nonprofit martial arts school with pay-what-you-can taekwondo classes for Milwaukee youth and families. Our mission is to make the many benefits of taekwondo to all, fostering leadership, confidence, and discipline.
On September 20, 2024, City Youth threw its very first open mic at Linneman's Inn, to raise funds for its programs, resources, and upcoming trip to Korea. Since then, it's become a much-anticipated event, attracting and highlighting some of Milwaukee's best and most formidable artists.
Hwaiting's host, Marika Holbusz, is a singer-songwriter and multimedia artist who has been involved with City Youth since 2018. The open mic is her required community service project before she tests for her second degree black belt in December.
Whether you're a poet, dancer, comedian, musician, mime, magician, artist, or simply want to sit back and enjoy the show… HWAITING (화이팅)! is for you! So come on down, and support an amazing organization + Milwaukee's fantastic arts scene!
