You’ve probably spec’ed it dozens—if not hundreds—of times, but do you know where mineral wool insulation comes from? As we become more conscious about supply chains, supporting local industries, and the environmental impact of our buildings, understanding where our building materials come from and how they are made has become increasingly more important. Which is why this October we are excited to be hosting our first TSA field trip as we get to know where the materials we spec come from, starting with the ubiquitous mineral wool insulation.
Join us for a jam-packed day of learning as we take a field trip to ROCKWOOL’s factory in Milton, Ontario –a 750,000 square foot facility producing mineral wool insulation products for residential, commercial and roofing applications. During our visit we’ll get to tour the factory and learn more about the properties of mineral wool and see how these products are made–including how the rock is melted and spun into stone wool insulation. Included in our visit are a series of education sessions organized by ROCKWOOL that will go over the application opportunities for these products, as well as helpful case studies. You’ll even be able to get your hands dirty (and get to know the products better) by installing the membrane, cladding substructure, and exterior insulation of a mock-up commercial wall.
This is a unique, hands-on opportunity to better understand this common insulation material—from manufacturing all the way to installation. Spaces are limited, so be sure to secure your spot today!
