The award-winning choral enchantresses, Mediæval Bæbes, are delighted to announce their highly anticipated 2025 Christmas Tour. Renowned for weaving ancient texts with haunting harmonies and transporting audiences to magical realms, the Bæbes will embark on a glittering journey across cathedrals, churches and theatres throughout the land this wynter.
This year’s concerts promise a feast for the senses: spine-tingling harmonies that take the listener on a journey through their repertoire of carols, old favourites and offerings from their forthcoming album, theme to be revealed ….
In true Bæbes fashion, audiences can expect performances of ancient carols in Latin, Middle English, and Old French, as well as original compositions imbued with a sensual medieval allure.
The unique, classical chart topping choir Mediæval Bæbes was conceptualised and formed in 1996 by musical director, composer and producer Katharine Blake. The group have won an Ivor Novella Award for their performance on the BBC serialisation “The Virgin Queen” and received two Emmy nominations and a Royal Television Society award as the featured artist alongside composer Martin Phipps for the theme tune of ITV’s hit TV show “Victoria”.
Throughout their many incarnations, and 11 studio albums the Mediaeval Baebes’ haunting classical vocals have led them to tour the world, including United States, Canada, Asia and Europe, in venues ranging from castles and caves to cathedrals & Glastonbury Festival’s Pyramid Stage. They have toured with Jools Holland and played at the Royal Albert Hall, Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall, Jersey Opera House, Tewkesbury Abbey, supported Michael Flatley in Hyde Park, and performed at the legendary Lilith Fayre. They have also been invited by enthusiast Iggy Pop to perform on his Radio 6 Christmas Day special.
Most recent collaborations include guest vocals on Orbital’s top ten album ‘Optical Delusion’ and a co-arrangement and performance with folk boy band TikTok sensations ‘The Wellermen’
