Ferndale Nature Area Projects

Volunteers needed to join this family friendly event to help make improvements and tidy up the stream side nature area for educational activities this school year. There will be jobs for all ages and skill sets, with tasks such as trimming trees, collecting sticks, pulling W**d, and laying ground cloth as well as many other jobs needing to be accomplished.
The Walla Walla Basin Watershed Council, in partnership with Ferndale School and with contributions from many other partners, undertook this project to restore the area along the stream with native plants for both habitat and learning opportunities. Since its beginnings in 2002 this area has served thousands of students and has been home to a diversity of species.
Refreshments and some tools will be provided. A few rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows would be helpful. Sturdy shoes and gloves are recommended.
