“Tie Dye" w/ Chris Pettman

The MAAA is pleased to have Chris Pettman instruct her first tie dye class at the Gallery.

For this class, you will choose to dye either a tablecloth/tapestry wall hanging (108” x 55”), or an adult size cotton apron (33” x 26”). Plus, you may bring one item from home to dye!

To begin, you will receive three 12” x 12” pieces of cotton fabric and learn 3 different tie dye designs as a test run. Then you will apply what you learned on your chosen item.

Once tied, Chris will instruct the dying process using Tulip dyes to create your fun masterpiece!

After completing your chosen item, you will dye the personal item you brought from home. Examples include shirts, socks, tote bags, hats, etc. A new, pre-washed 100% cotton item works best.

Your dyed items will be finished at home the next day by simply rinsing them by hand until the water runs clear. Then you’ll machine wash them separately and dry them to set the dye.

Held in the upstairs classroom of the Gallery, ages 12+ are welcome to register. The deadline to register is September 10th, but last-minute sign-ups may be possible. Call the Gallery and ask.
