This panel facilitated by author Kevin Smokler (Break the Frame: Conversations with Women Filmmakers) will unpack how filmmakers can spot opportunities and transform them into tangible realities. Where does inspiration come from and how can it be turned into a film? How can an opportunity be recognized as such? What makes an opportunity a worthwhile endeavor? Our panelists, including Bay Area filmmaker Tiffany Shlain along with other Mill Valley Film Festival featured filmmakers, will dive deeper into examining the journey between recognizing a story, moment or relationship as opportunity and the steps taken to bring that project to life and staying alert to future opportunities for upcoming projects. Panelists will also touch upon spotting opportunities for creative collaborators, financing and time management, community partners, and showcasing films once completed. FREE
