In this introductory session of the Accessibility Champions Program, participants will explore the essential foundations of accessibility in education and digital learning environments. The session will provide an overview of key legal frameworks and their relevance in higher education. Faculty will also be introduced to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and the POUR principles (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust) that serve as the international standard for accessible digital content. Through discussion, examples, and reflection activities, participants will build a foundational understanding of accessibility’s role in fostering equitable learning and ensuring legal compliance in their courses.
