Amahl and the Night Visitors Comes to UCC Midland
Amahl and the Night Visitors, Gian Carlo Menotti’s beloved holiday opera, will be presented at United Church of Christ, Midland on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 3 pm, as the current offering of The Founders Series at UCC.
The one-act opera premiered in 1951 in New York City and has been featured in many performances on television as a Christmas Eve special. It was previously presented at UCC Midland in 2011, featuring local singers as the lame child Amahl, his loving mother, the Three Kings on their way to visit the newborn Christ Child with priceless gifts, and a chorus of shepherds. A miracle occurs as the climax of the 45-minute work, a family favorite.
The cast for the upcoming performance features Erin Whitfield as the Mother, Jess Toole as Amahl, David Aukerman as Kaspar, David Young as Melchior, Gerald Blanchard as Balthazar, and George Hageage IV as the page. As the chorus of shepherds: singers from the UCC Midland choir and invited guests.

The Founders Series originated in 2010, as part of the celebration of the church’s 50th anniversary, to honor the individuals who founded the congregation. The purpose of The Founders Series at UCC is to bring two or three excellent choral programs to the community each year. Past performances have featured the Camerata Singers, the New Century Chorale, Measure for Measure, and Good Company.
A 5 pm performance on December 14 has been added.
