Inside the Archives: Preserving Miami’s Moving Image History

Join The Video Consortium’s Miami hub and the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives at Miami Dade College for an event that celebrates Miami’s shared cultural memory and the people who help protect it. The experience encourages open conversation, curiosity, and connection between the archives team and the South Florida community.

Led by Archives Manager Lou Ellen Kramer and her team, guests will explore how South Florida’s rich history is preserved through film and video—from digitization to exhibition.

This guided experience offers a rare look at the meticulous process behind saving the region’s most iconic moving images. The evening will conclude with a conversation with acclaimed local documentary filmmakers Gaspar González and Kareem Tabsch, highlighting the critical role of archival footage in storytelling and preservation of Miami’s cultural identity.

Tickets are $15 and will include the guided tour of the archives as well as refreshments and light snacks.
