About the event

Biscayne Bay Shenanigans, again.
Disregard details below, we'll keep them there for a future event. For the time being we are scrapping Palm Beach due to cold weather and rain. The details for this event will match the details from the previous event for the time being.

Details may change depending on the weather (which already seems to lean on the colder side for Floridians anyway), and even time can be changed, but keep in mind early is better to secure parking. The idea is to launch from the proximity of Blue Heron Blvd. Bridge in Palm Beach. Many options exist. The tide will be low by 13:04 in the area of the Port Of Palm Beach. This means snorkeling is not a good idea unless it is much later in the afternoon when the cleaner water from the ocean is coming in through the inlet. This also means the sandbar just North of Peanut Island will be available and surely chuck full with boaters, many drinking and basically partying. The West side of Peanut Island is a better choice if we want to beach there, but seriously, if we do, let's make it a brief one, it will be crowded. A much better option to stop for a pick-nick and even grill whatever you want (I'll bring a small gas powered grill for us to prepare whatever we want for lunch) is Little Munyon Island, a short distance North of the bridge. The boating channel in this area leans on the West side of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICE for short) all the way from North Palm Beach to Boynton, and there is only one bridge that may require us to bring down our masts to clear it if we head South in the ICW, the low tide may even let us go through. I would say that winds should dictate our decision as to what to do, and we should prepare to have food and drink available on our boats since the outgoing tide even invites us to go out the inlet and sail on the ocean, ideally North towards John D. MacArthur Park, making it easier to come back when the tide reverses by midday. Again, winds should dictate what to do, and hopefully we all come easily to a consensus before launching. Speaking of launching, Jim Barry Light Harbor Park and Phil Foster Park are both great options for trailers paid parking, and Phil Foster has an area for beach launching for car topping or truck bed folks that is free of payment. We can discuss this in detail in the comments, and decide a communication link if we end up launching from two locations out of necessity.
And yes, you can contact the park for an overnight camping permit if you want to stay, but if you decide for this, make sure overnight parking is secured from towing. There are toilets available at Peanut Island and Phil Foster Park, fresh water boat rinsing is not available, Phil Foster has open air showers.
