ABOUT "CABARET"
A charming Master of Ceremonies welcomes you to step into the Kit Kat Klub, a decadent Berlin nightclub, as the 1920s come to a close and the Weimar Republic yields to the growing threat of fascism. Cabaret follows Cliff, a young American writer who becomes enamored with Sally Bowles, an English singer. As their relationship progresses, Fräulein Schneider, the proprietor of their boarding house, embarks on a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. The dazzling façade of the Kit Kat Klub masks the growing threat of fascism, and the characters' lives become intertwined with the fate of a nation. With its iconic musical numbers and poignant social commentary, Cabaret explores the fragility of freedom and the seductive allure of escapism and complicity in a world on the precipice of darkness.
CONTENT WARNING: Cabaret depicts the complex and often dark realities of Berlin in the late 1920s. This production contains adult themes and situations, including: strong language, suggestive and explicit sexual content, brief depictions of violence, references to and implied acts of sexual violence, and themes of anti-Semitism and political extremism, including Nazi ideology. These elements are intrinsic to the play's historical context and thematic exploration of a society on the brink of collapse. Viewer discretion is advised.
AGE APPROPRIATENESS: Recommended for ages 16+. No one under the age of 13 will be permitted entry.
RUN TIME: Cabaret runs approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.
