MakeIt: Visible Mending Sashiko & Patching Workshop

Learn the craft of visible mending with patching and sashiko. In this hands-on workshop, participants will discover how to fix and decorate their clothes using colorful, expressive stitches and creative patches inspired by traditional Japanese textile techniques.

Instructors from Makerspace will show you how to prepare clothing, attach patches underneath or on top, and use simple sashiko embroidery to transform tears or worn spots into beautiful design details. All skill levels are welcome, and materials will be provided. Participants should bring in woven (i.e., not knit) items that need fixing or use supplied practice fabric. By the end of the workshop, participants will have learned new skills with a repaired garment ready to be worn many more times.
