STRANDED KNITTING CLASS: FAIR ISLE AND BOHUS

CLASS DESCRIPTION: By using two (or even three!) yarns per row, knitters can fashion fabric that retains plenty of
stretch and softness, while adding carefully-placed color variations—or even pictures! Bring a size 4 circular needle 16” or longer, and two or more colors of worsted-weight yarn (WOOL is best!!) to play with, and we will begin to fashion a simple hat. We’ll also discuss how to read color charts and how to “carry” two yarns so that your finished work will lie flat—as well as “yarn dominance” and reasons to work in the round whenever possible. Feel free to bring along other patterns that have you stumped, or stitch patterns you’d like to sample in class!

CLASS LENGTH: 3 hours
AGE: 16 and up
LEVEL: Basic knitting skills: able to knit and purl.
STUDENT SUPPLIES: 2-3 colors worsted-weight yarn; circular needle, size 4, 16 inches or longer. 100% fine wool yarn from our Romeldale CVM flock of sheep will be available for purchase at our farm shop prior to the start of class. Dyed yarn is $24.50 per skein. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of class if you need to purchase yarn to allow time to have the yarn wound into a ball.
Instructor will provide handouts.
