A vibrant two-act Día de los Muertos celebration of life, love, and memory through music, dance, poetry, and theater.
Death is not the end — it's just the beginning. From the imagination of the acclaimed Los Angeles band Las Cafeteras, Hasta La Muerte is an enthralling two-act performance honoring the spirit of Día de los Muertos. Through mesmerizing choreography, heartfelt poetry, and a dynamic blend of original and traditional songs, La Catrina (patron saint of the dead) leads audiences on a journey through time, rhythm, and memory — encountering folkloric figures like La Llorona and La Bruja, as well as modern-day stories of love, loss, and resilience.
Blending Mexican folklore with contemporary storytelling, challenge patriarchy, uplift the role of curanderas, and re-examine our imagination about death and the afterlife, Las Cafeteras create a moving, colorful celebration that reminds us to cherish those who have passed and embrace the joy of remembering.
