We look forward to working with the scouts again during Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and offering the Radio Merit Badge to those who wish to enroll. Contact: Larry Peterson Merit Badge Counselor at
bGFycnkgfCB3YTl0dCAhIGNvbQ== before October 1.
Jamboree on the Air, or JOTA, is the largest Scouting event in the world. It is held annually the third full weekend in October. JOTA uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world, around the nation and in our own community.
The Fox Cities Amateur Radio Club (FCARC) will be on hand with the know-how and equipment. If you are interested in obtaining your Radio merit badge, contact Larry Peterson at
bGFycnkgfCB3YTl0dCAhIGNvbQ== before October 1. He will provide a workbook and directions for completing it with assistance through some short YouTube videos.
You will bring the completed workbook with you on October 19th. After you complete your required 10 minutes of airtime via the FCARC radios in the parking lot and inside the Scout Shop, you will meet with one of our merit badge counselors for 10-15 minutes to review your work. Once all requirements are met, you will receive a signed Blue Card, furnished by the FCARC.
If you only wish to come and enjoy JOTA without working on the Radio merit badge, we welcome that, too. Preregistration for that is not necessary.
Event patches can be preorder at the Scout Shop.
