Looking for after-school activities for the new academic year?
We would love to welcome new members to Rutland Youth Choirs on THURSDAYS (change from last year) in Oakham.
Our first rehearsals are on Thursday 11th September and excitingly, we will be launching our new Senior Choir! Do come along to try it out.
Our choirs are:
Young Voices (School Years 1-3): 4.00-4.40pm
Junior Choir (School Years 4-6): 4.30-5.20pm
Senior Choir (School Years 7-13): 5.10-6.00pm
For no additional charge, we also offer two theory clubs and a ‘walking bus’ from Oakham CofE School, and we help coordinate lift shares from other schools where there is demand.
Our choirs are run by Susie Hill, a freelance singer and passionate educator based in London, who is a current Masters student at the Royal Academy of Music. She grew up in Rutland and travels up here especially for our rehearsals on Thursdays, always full of energy and enthusiasm! Our singers learn a wide range of songs and have an exciting term ahead: they have been invited to attend a workshop with the National Youth Choirs, to sing at the prestigious Rutland Justice Service, to perform in a concert with composer and conductor Sir John Rutter, and to participate in a number of fun Christmas events. Please note that every new singer has a free ‘trial session’, so there is no need to pay anything in advance. We also have means-tested bursaries available, up to 100%.
