Four Rare and Auspicious Opportunities at Tara Institute!
Rejoice! We are truly blessed to welcome three esteemed Geshes from Sera Jey Monastery in South India, who will be visiting Melbourne and staying at Tara Institute next week.
Monday 22nd September
1. White Tara Puja @ 10–12 noon
During their visit and as recommended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and with deep devotion and heartfelt aspiration, the Geshes will lead a White Tara Puja to pray for the long life, continued good health, and flourishing activities of our most cherished teacher, Venerable Geshe Doga. This puja has been personally recommended by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as a powerful and beneficial practice to support Geshe Doga’s life and enlightened activities.
White Tara is a female Buddha associated with long life, healing, and compassionate wisdom. She is especially known for her ability to remove obstacles to longevity and to bring about peaceful conditions for spiritual growth.
Through this sacred practice, we have the precious opportunity to:
Generate vast merit and positive energy
Dedicate our prayers for the health and longevity of Geshe Doga
Create the conditions for the Dharma to flourish in our community and beyond
Everyone is welcome to attend and receive the blessing and/or recite the mantra.
2. Hayagriva Puja @ 1:00pm – 2.30pm
Another special puja will occur in the afternoon, at the heartfelt recommendation of our precious teacher, Venerable Geshe Doga. The Geshes will lead a special Hayagriva Puja—a powerful and profound spiritual practice.
Hayagriva, a fierce and compassionate emanation of Chenrezig, embodies the strength to swiftly remove deep negativities and inner obstacles. This puja not only brings immense benefit to those who attend, but it will also be offered for the long life and good health of our beloved teacher, Venerable Geshe Doga.
Sponsorship of this puja is welcomed. Your contribution supports both the continuation of these precious teachings at our Centre and the flourishing of our spiritual community. To sponsor please click here and for further details contact

3. Fundraising Dinner for Sera Jey Monastery
Tuesday, 23rd September @ 6:30 PM
$30 per person
Opportunity to purchase dharma items
We are also encouraged that our Venerable Geshe Doga has expressed his support for this fundraising dinner noting that it will greatly help the project; which is the renovation of the main kitchen at Sera Jey Monastery in South India. So join us for a meaningful evening of generosity and connection as we come together.
This kitchen, a vital lifeline for the monastic community, provides three nourishing meals daily to over 3,500 monks. It was established in 1997 by our most precious guru, the late Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and has since served as a beautiful example of compassion in action.
Now, it’s time for us to give back. This fundraising dinner is more than a meal — it is a rare opportunity to generate vast merit, support the continuity of the Dharma, and help sustain the physical well-being of thousands of monks dedicated to spiritual practice.
As part of the Fundraising Dinner, the visiting Geshes from Sera Jey Monastery will bring a selection of precious Dharma items for sale.
The fundraising dinner is sponsored by Café Bliss, great gratitude to Ven. Tsering whose tireless continuous support to Sera Jey and Tara Institute is deeply appreciated. The funds raised from this event will go directly to Sera Jey’s main kitchen reconstruction.
