About the event

Fighting the rise of the far right: lessons from Greece and Britain
Join us for an international panel on fighting the rise of the far right.

The racist March for Australia rallies show the danger if anti-migrant racism is left to grow. We’ve seen the rise of the far right all over the world off the back of the scapegoating of migrants and refugees.

This international panel will discuss important lessons from Greece and Britain for the fight against racism and fascism here.

In Greece, decades of anti-racist and anti-fascist organising helped to crush the Nazi Golden Dawn. They went from having MPs elected in parliament to having its leaders in jail.

In Britain, after a wave of racist riots across the country, counter demonstrations pushed back the racists. But the racists responded with a huge rally in London on Saturday.

This forum will focus the lessons from these crucial struggles.

We will be hearing from:

* Petros Constantinou - socialist and coordinator of the Movement Against Racism and the Fascist Threat (Keerfa), which helped smash the fascist party Golden Dawn

* Judy Cox, a member of the Socialist Workers Party (SWP), which has played a central role in Stand Up to Racism counter demonstrations against the far right in Britain.

All welcome!
