About the event

Dating with Self-Trust: Somatic Awareness Tools for Authenticity.
A workshop in support of embodying somatic awareness tools to carry into dating so you can feel safe to be YOU - with authenticity.

About this Event

This 4-hour workshop offers somatic tools and embodied practices for building self-trust, boundaries, and authentic connection while dating. Whether you're preparing to re-enter the dating world or you are already actively in the dating pool, this workshop aims to aid you in recognising body-based guidance.

--------------------------

So here’s the situation…

You’re intelligent, attractive, caring, accomplished. You know you have so much to offer in love. Yet, you find yourself still single.

You potentially even hear sentiments from family and friends like:

“You’re such a catch.”
“How are you still single?”

--------------------------

So often, it’s about trust.

Do you trust yourself to advocate for your needs?
Do you trust yourself to uphold your own boundaries?
Do you trust yourself to move at your authentic pace when intimacy arises?
Do you trust yourself to not self-abandon (lose yourself) when dating?

If you answered ‘no’ or ‘sometimes’ or ‘yes…until I get attached’ then this workshop may support you.

When self-trust is shaky, protective beliefs and strategies (that you may or may not be aware of) can quietly (cleverly) run the show by keeping us ‘safe,’ yet closed to genuine connection due to fear and avoidance intercepting.

“Self-trust can be defined as the ability for you to do what you need to do and to avoid doing what you know you shouldn’t be doing. The mind always keeps track, but more than that, it keeps score of your ability to follow through on your own word and your own direction.”
- Nero Knowledge, Outsmarting Reality.

Dating is inherently uncertain. For some, dating feels mysterious and enlivening, and for others, it’s actually really uncomfortable and confronting. Trust in our own ability to advocate for our own needs, preferences and boundaries is supportive in aiding us to feel more at ease while exploring a new connection with romantic possibility. While the inherent uncertainty of dating cannot be taken away, we can foster greater certainty for our nervous system by building greater self-trust.

Together we’ll explore:

  • Practice recognising the body’s language of “yes,” “no,” and “maybe with an adjustment” so you can respond your date's invitations with your truth
  • The cost of saying “yes” when the body says “no”
  • How protective beliefs and strategies are excellent at keeping one safe and comfortable, yet stuck and single
  • The role of resentment and people-pleasing in dating and how to avoid it eroding potential
  • Ways to communicate needs, preferences, and boundaries authentically and compassionately without self-abandoning

What to expect:

This workshop will be a space of reflection, theory, practice, and self-discovery. There’ll be opportunities for participation (sharing, for example) offered as invitations.

This workshop is intended to help with:

  • A deeper awareness of your body’s signals and inner boundaries
  • Strengthening somatic awareness via practices for dating with clarity and authenticity
  • Insight into your protective strategies and how to understand them with compassion
  • Tools to reduce resentment, anxiety and people-pleasing by taking responsibility for your needs

Who this workshop is for:

This is not a dating event. This is a workshop to support:

a) Those actively exploring connections with relationship potential (dating)
i.e., seeking to feel more grounded, attuned, and self-trusting in the process of exploring romantic connection possibilities

b) Those contemplating stepping into dating but noticing that they’re avoiding it
i.e., periodically jumping into the apps yet not tangibly going on real-life dates

This workshop offers a space to understand what may be arising within while in connection, or considering connection with another.

About your facilitator - Grace Elizabeth of

Grace Elizabeth is a group facilitator, somatic guide and founder of Centre of You - a multi-modality community centre for inner exploration, where she has hosted monthly conscious speed dating events for almost five years.

Her approach to intimacy and self-trust is deeply informed by her own lived experience. With a background shaped by complex attachment patterns and protective rules that kept her “safe” but closed to connection, Grace knows firsthand the paradox of longing for love while fearing the vulnerability it requires. Through years of self-inquiry, she has come to see that boundaries and authentic pacing are not things another person can uphold for us - they are inner responsibilities that build the foundation for genuine connection.

Grace brings a grounded, compassionate presence to this workshop, creating space for participants to explore their own protective beliefs, body signals and relational patterns. Her facilitation blends personal insight, somatic practice and years of holding space for people navigating the tender terrain of dating and intimacy.

Things to note:

Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes to enable deep breathing and sitting/laying upon the floor with ease. Something to cover your eyes, if you wish to do so (eg. eye mask, scarf). A journal is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).

Personal responsibility: Please make an assessment on whether you are feeling stable and resourced enough to explore the practices on offer in this event.

No Photo/Video Content Will Be Captured: We recognise that being at an event where content is being captured can impact the personal comfort and nervous system regulation of our community. As such, it should be known upfront that this event is a photo and video free space. No content will be captured. We ask all participants to honor this agreement in respect of the shared experience by placing any recording devices away on arrival.

Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 10:45am - 11:00am. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 11:15am. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.

Driving: Centre of You is located upon Chapel Street and while you may get lucky with an untimed spot, (try High Street) predominantly 1 and 2 hour parking is available (unmetered from 5pm). So you can fully settle into the practice, we suggest you avoid the need to move your car or risk a fine and park at the CARe multilevel carpark (8-14 King Street Prahran), a 140-metre walk from COY.

1 - 2 Hours parking will be charged at $5.60

2 - 3 Hours parking will be charged at $7.50

3-4 hours parking will be charged at $9.00.

Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).

Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.

Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via aGVsbG8gfCBjZW50cmVvZnlvdSAhIGNvbSAhIGF1 or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.

Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while alongside upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business and the businesses of our collaborating facilitators.
