Project Fence & Retainer Wall – This Weekend!
This Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th we’re rolling up our sleeves to tackle two big jobs at Hawthorn RSL and WE NEED YOU!
No skills required, just volunteers to help.
🔨 The Plan:
• Fence: Replace the side fence (23m). Cut into lengths, load the trailer, and run to Vermont Transfer Station (Burwood Hwy). Posts in Saturday, rails and pails up Sunday. Paslode gun ready.
• Retainer Wall: Around 45m along the boundaries, two sleepers high in places, to keep soil away from the new fence. Shovels at the ready! No need to go to Stage 4 pits.
🛠️ Gear:
Post hole digger, jackhammer, trailer, and most tools sorted. Could use extra shovels and one more post hole digger.
🍴 Perks:
Lunch provided both days and the bar will be open afterwards: President’s shout!
👷♂️ Site Manager:
We’ve recruited “Maddo” – Stewart Maddison (yes, the Pres’ Dad) – engineer, ex-Hire-a-Hubby operator, and project overseer. His only job is pointing with a pencil and keeping us on track!
💰 Why it matters:
The more hands we have, the more money we save by not paying trades. Every dollar saved here goes back into veterans and community projects.
Let’s get this done together so we can all enjoy a beer on the new deck area by 1st November.
