Join us for one of Medora’s most popular events! Enjoy an early morning launch and watch balloons soar over the Badlands.
We welcome you to observe the pilots set up and fire up their balloons and take to the skies. Rides are not available to the public, however unforgettable views and fantastic photo ops are free to enjoy from the ground.
This year, balloons are scheduled to launch from the Family Fun Center near the Medora Campground on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is limited, spots near the launch site are reserved for pilots and crew. Arrive early to find parking at Chimney Park and the Tjaden Terrace. Shuttle rides from the Tjaden Terrace will be available for $5 cash only, kids 12 and under can ride the shuttle at no cost.
Breakfast sandwiches and coffee will be available for purchase at the launch site. After the launch, enjoy all-day events in Medora. Enjoy brunch shows, morning shopping, breakfast, trails, live music, and end the night with the Medora Musical!
Weather can affect the launch, sometimes causing delays or cancellations. We work closely with the team of balloon pilots to ensure their safety. Changes in launch conditions will be communicated in the Facebook event listing, across Medora’s digital channels, and in person at the launch site. Stay tuned for more information!
