The annual Santa Parade and Fun Run in Media, PA is happening on 11/30/2025. In past years, live reindeers have been present through all the noisy festivities, standing around on hard pavement, being handled by random people, and used as photo props.
We have been trying to get confirmation of whether the reindeers will be there again this year, but the event organizers are not responding, and though they are not promoting the presence of the reindeers this year, their location is clearly marked on the event map. Media Borough is no help at all, because they claim to have nothing to do with any of it.
We would rather show up to protest and find no live animals being used, than to not show up and find out later that the animals needed our help and our voices.
Please plan to come out to join us at 4pm or any time after. We will be there around 3:30 and will post here about what we find. If there are no live animals on site, obviously we will cancel the event.
Signs will be provided. This will be a peaceful protest, suitable for all ages of protestors. We will only engage with passersby to have calm, peaceful, reasonable, respectful discourse about why using animals for entertainment and as props is not OK. There will be no arguing, fighting, or physical engagement. We must model for the public what peaceful respect for all beings looks like.
