Nature Walk & Talk

Changes are in the air as Summer transitions into Autumn. Both plants and animals sense the shortening days and cooler temperatures and are getting themselves prepared for the upcoming Winter.
Join Maryland Master Naturalist Bill Cheeseman for a free “Nature Walk & Talk” on Saturday, 13 September as we explore the woods and wetland area alongside The Barns. Maryland Master Naturalist Bill Cheeseman will lead a leisurely walk with open discussion along the way. We will look and listen for any plants and animals around us, learn about them, and discuss their preparations for the seasonal changes. Please bring any questions you have about our local flora and fauna. How do they prepare for Winter? Why do leaves change colors? Where do turtles go?
Our Walk & Talk will start at the back of our parking lot at 8:00 a.m. and follow the trail to the boardwalk over the wetland area. The trail is accessible to all: dry and firm underfoot, wide and clear of brush, and has virtually no elevation change. This walk, as always, is child friendly.
We will plan to be back at the parking area at about 10:00 a.m., allowing plenty of time for browsing the treasures of The Barns.
