Our intimate thinkers event will discuss: "Bringing them back: habitat restoration for declining woodland birds in South Australia"

The Mt Lofty region is one of 15 nationally recognised biodiversity hotspots in Australia. However, with just 10% of the original woodland habitats remaining the biodiversity of this region continues to decline and disappear because there is insufficient habitat remaining to support all the species. Half of the woodland bird species of this region will disappear unless we re-establish substantial areas of additional woodland habitat on some of the areas that we have cleared. David Paton AM will illustrate the approach that BioR, a not-for-profit, is using to re-establish large areas of functional, self-sustaining and resilient woodland habitats within the Mt Lofty region. David likens this to gardening on a grand scale and there are lots of ways people can help.
