Our August Storytime is coming up on Saturday, August 23rd from 2pm at Milwood Branch Library! 🏮👘🎇
The theme for this month is “Summer Events in Japan”.
We will be introducing Natsu-matsuri (summer festivals), Bon-odori (traditional Japanese dance), Yukata (traditional summer clothing), and the special foods and games enjoyed during these festivals through paper theater and book readings in Japanese and English!
After storytime, everyone is welcome to join us for a paper fan decorating, summer festival activities with prizes, and Yukata dressing experience with our special guest, a professional kimono dresser, Ms. Miyako from Kimono Mosaique! (*Children’s Yukata sizes are limited.)
📚 Storytime begins at 2:00pm!
🏮“Experience Japanese Matsuri” and paper fan decorating begin at 2:30pm!
This event is free and open to the public. We look forward to welcoming many families!

今月のテーマは 「日本の夏の行事」 です。夏祭り、盆踊り、浴衣、そしてお祭りで楽しまれる特別な食べ物やゲームなどを、紙芝居や絵本のバイリンガル読み聞かせ、ペープサートを通してご紹介します。
ストーリータイムの後は、扇子のデコレーションや賞品がもらえる夏祭りのアクティビティー、そしてプロの着付け師、Kimono MosaiqueのMiyako先生による浴衣の着付け体験もお楽しみいただけます！ (お子様用の浴衣のサイズには限りがあります)

🏮「日本のお祭り体験」と扇子のデコレーションは午後2時30分にスタートします！
このイベントは無料で、どなたでもご参加いただけます。
