SHK Music Presents: Canyon Lights “Breath Easy” Album Release Show with Jesse Ahearn at Boston Harbor Distillery
Canyon Lights - After their run with GA-20, drummer Tim Carman and guitarist Pat Faherty took their sound in a new direction with Canyon Lights— one that leaves room for atmosphere, rhythm, and subtle shifts in tone. Their debut album “Breathe Easy” is out August 29th
Pat and Tim have been friends and bandmates since 2018, racking up thousands of hours onstage across the globe. Their shared love of blues powered the explosive rise of GA-20, the Boston-based trio that scored three #1 Billboard blues albums. But in 2023, the pair found themselves reconnecting over a different kind of inspiration: the riff-driven rock of the ’70s. Bands like Mountain, Thin Lizzy, and James Gang were a guiding light as the two began working out new material that didn’t quite fit the confines of their former blues lane.
Faherty brought in some riff ideas; Carman opened up his lyric vault. The songwriting spark was immediate. In early 2024, the two flew to Denver to record with engineer and co-producer Dylan Brown, and Canyon Lights was officially born.

Jesse Ahern - A staple of Boston’s roots-rock scene, Jesse Ahern brings gritty authenticity and a powerful voice to songs that champion working-class resilience and personal redemption. Ahern has built an international following with his rabble-rousing live shows and soul-baring lyrics, earning support slots with Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Frank Turner, and more. His latest album Mercy finds him expanding his stripped-down folk sound into full-band territory, blending punk energy with soul, rock, and sharp songwriting.
Produced by longtime collaborator Brian Charles at Rare Signals in Cambridge, Mercy captures a new chapter in Ahern’s musical evolution. The album’s opener, “Someday,” is a defiant, soulful anthem for uncertain times, while the single “Sunshine” surges with horns, grit, and optimism. Ahern’s voice—gravelly and powerful—draws comparisons to Springsteen, channeling raw emotion into every line.
Whether he’s rallying a crowd or baring his soul, Ahern brings a rare sincerity to the stage. His songs are steeped in everyday struggle and hard-won hope, delivered with the conviction of someone who’s lived every word. For fans of working-class rock and rebel spirit, Jesse Ahern is the real deal.
