Join us for a family friendly free fishing experience with free fishing poles to take home!
Lake Corpus Christi State Park will host its 34th annual Kid Fish event on Saturday, January 24, 2026!
Children ages 5-12 are invited to try fishing for the first time or perfect their skills.
We will provide free take-home fishing rods for participating kids!
Don't forget to check out the educational booth area as well!
Fishing rods will be handed out to participants on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 9 am the day of the event. Supplies are limited. Participants must be present to sign up.
Meet: Check-in at the front office starting at 9 am. The event will be in the Whitetail Run Day Use Area and the long fishing pier.
Bring: Weather-appropriate clothing, water, and sun protection.
Cost: Park entry is free for this event.
Note:
Due to low lake levels this year, rainbow trout will not be stocked. Participants will be encouraged to fish for typical lake species. The area will be baited for a week before the event to encourage fish to hang around the event area.
This program is weather-dependent. In the case of severe weather, it may be canceled.
Reserving a day pass online does not guarantee participation in Kid Fish 2026. Wristbands that guarantee a free fishing rod to participants are passed out at the front office on a first come, first serve basis starting at 9 am the day of the event.
