Enjoy seeing wild bald eagles, an educational ambassador bald eagle, owls, and other birds of prey. Attend fun activities for all ages and participate in bird banding with Indiana Audubon Society. Support the park and find unique items in our Friends of Turkey Run & Shades State Parks online auction. Meet other nature enthusiasts and enjoy a winter weekend full of bird programming.

100% of the proceeds goes to the Friends Group, a non-for-profit community organization that assists Turkey Run & Shades State Parks. They have helped the parks by purchasing soccer goals for both parks, a new drinking foundatin for the Turkey Run Nature Center, funding the Lusk Home kitchen renovation, the Lusk Home garden, Nature Center pollinator and sensory garden, providing racoon proof trash facilities at the parks, participating in funding for our future Trail Head Plaza, monthly concert series, workshops, programs/events, along with countless hours of dedication.

5pm: Registration Open in the lobby of the inn.
5pm: Friends Auction Begins Friends of Turkey Run & Shades State Parks will have items for bid in the Strauss Room until Saturday evening.
6-8pm: Eagles in Flight Mixer Join us for this fun reception with appetizers, a cash bar, and live music from the Racoons in the Pantry Irish Band.
6-8pm: “All Things Birds” visit with bird experts, stop by the craft table for a make-and-take item, and more.
Info: 7-8am: Morning Roost #1, Follow the DNR van to local eagle roost sites.
7-11am: Breakfast Buffet (on your own), Inn Dining Room
9am—2pm: Eagle Field Trips
GUIDED: Visit local eagle nest sites. Limited spots and require carpooling.
SELF-GUIDED: visit local eagle nests at your leisure.
11am-2pm: Lunch Buffet (on your own), Inn Dining Room
11am-5pm: Birds of Prey Activity Table Crafts and games for kids of all ages.
1pm: “Birding Through the Seasons” Indiana Audubon Society.
1:30pm: Bird Banding Get the chance to see songbirds up close at the Nature Center.
1-2pm: International Crane Foundation, Hear what efforts the ICF is making and how to support them!
3:15-4:00pm: Live Bald Eagle Program Learn about this incredible species.
6pm: Auction Ends Final bids will be collected and winners can pay.
6-7pm: Live Birds of Prey Program Meet owls, hawks, and more.
8-9pm: Owl Prowl, guided hike to hopefully hear Turkey Run’s wild owls on a night hike.

7-8am: Morning Roost #2, Follow the DNR van to local eagle roost sites. Caravan leaves at 7am sharp from the Inn Parking Lot.
7-9am: Birding at Prospect Point Caravan to Shades State Park to look for eagles and more. Very limited group size.
7-11am: Breakfast Buffet (on your own), Inn Dining Room.
10am-3pm: Birds of Prey Activity Table Crafts and games for kids of all ages.
