📣 We’re marking DLD Awareness Day (17 October 2025) by announcing our first local DLD Community Event!
Since welcoming expert speech and language therapist Amanda Finer onto our team, Symbol Speech and Language Therapy has been developing specialist support for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). DLD is a lifelong condition that makes it harder to understand and use spoken language in ways that impact day-to-day life. It affects around 7.6% of children — roughly two in every classroom — yet awareness remains low. With the right understanding and support, neurodiverse children and young people with DLD can thrive, but many families still face delayed diagnosis, confusion, and isolation.
☕ That’s why we’re inviting families in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area to come together — to connect, share experiences, and help build a local support and advocacy network for children and young people with DLD.
