Erick Allen learned from his parents that faith without deeds falls short. Erick’s father, a retired CME pastor, volunteered as a poll worker and worked to register people of color to vote. His mother was a beloved public school teacher for over 30 years, shaping the hearts and minds of countless young people. On weekends, Erick would join his grandmother as a volunteer at the Red Cross, continuing to learn about the value of public service.
Erick’s family’s example has shaped his worldview and passion for service. He is committed to effective government, focusing on health and safety, smart economic and workforce development, quality of life, and mobility.
In 2018, Cobb County voters sent Erick to the state legislature, where he tirelessly advocated for full Medicaid expansion, environmental justice, and a check on attempts to make voting more difficult.
While in the State House, Erick received numerous recognitions and rewards, some of which include:
• 2021 GA Mental Health Consumer Network Legislator of the Year
• Georgia Educators Association Legislative Honor Roll
• Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
• Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. 2022 Bridge Builder Award
• 2022 Chair Cupid All in Cobb Award
• Legislative Collaborator Award for Cobb Commission D2
• And many others...
After a 2022 run for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, Erick was elected Chair of the Cobb County Democrats. During an April 2025 Special Election, he was elected as Cobb County Commissioner for District 2.
Erick works as a management consultant and lives in the Vinings area with his wife, Dr. Tameka Allen, and daughter, Elise. They are active in the community and attend West Mitchell Street CME Church.
