We are hosting our first ever Blessing of the Animals at Christ the King! Bring any pets, chickens, or livestock. One of our priests will ask God to bless each animal, that He will sustain them in being what He has made them to be! There will be coffee, donuts, and juice for all who come. Please register beforehand so we have enough food!

Background:
Each year around October 4, Christians remember St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226), who called people to love Christ and care for God’s creation. From the Middle Ages on, priests blessed farm animals that families depended on for work and food—a prayer for protection and gratitude, not superstition.
Scripture affirms this care: God calls animals “very good” (Genesis 1), preserves them in Noah’s ark, and commends the righteous who care for their beasts (Proverbs 12:10).
Today we continue this tradition to thank God for creatures that serve, delight, and sustain us, and to ask His blessing on them. It’s a simple way to proclaim that all creation belongs to the Lord and reflects His goodness.
