Shilpa “Shil” Chawla is an engineer who has worked in healthcare management for over 20 years. She is also a certified small business mentor volunteer for a non-profit organization. She was born and raised in India, which is the birthplace of yoga—yet for most of her life, she never practiced it. It wasn’t until she began struggling with persistent back pain that she turned to alternate therapies and yoga, hoping to find some relief.
What began as a way to heal the body soon became a journey of self-discovery, mindfulness, and inner strength. She traveled to Rishikesh, India—the birthplace of yoga—to deepen her understanding and train as a teacher. There, she completed the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, where she studied traditional Hatha, Asthanga and Vinyasa yoga, pranayama, meditation, and yogic philosophy.
Today, she blends her background in healthcare with a holistic approach to yoga, creating a supportive space for others to heal and reconnect with themselves. Her class focuses on mindful movement and breath awareness for managing pain or recovering from injury—while nurturing a deeper connection between body, mind, and spirit. She believes that yoga and meditation is not about perfection, but about presence.
