Zonta Mankato will host a Candlelight Vigil in tribute to the lives impacted and lost to violence against women, standing in solidarity with Zonta International during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence. This unites individuals and organizations worldwide in raising awareness, inspiring action, and advocating for the safety and dignity of women and girls everywhere.
The vigil is part of the Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign, an international initiative that highlights the global prevalence of gender-based violence and calls for strengthened community support, prevention efforts, and legislative change. Through advocacy, education, and local outreach, Zonta clubs worldwide work to create a future where women can live free from fear and harm.
Violence against women remains one of the most widespread human rights violations worldwide. Millions of women experience physical, emotional, or sexual violence each year. Many incidents go unreported due to stigma, lack of resources, or fear. These realities underscore the urgent need for continued advocacy, awareness, and action.
This Candlelight Vigil offers a space for reflection, remembrance, and hope, honoring survivors, commemorating those whose lives were taken, and reaffirming our shared commitment to ending violence against women in all its forms.
This will be held in the UCC Mankato Parking / the sidewalk at the bottom of the Stadium. We will provide Candles.
