The first Lost Chord Reunion was planned by Mark Weinstein/Nicki Van Stelten (former owners of the Lost Chord Record store), and friends from City Mouse, and was held on August 30, 2010 at Red Sky Lounge. It was aimed at collecting together the memories, music and people that surrounded the culture of the Lost Chord. The Reunion Party celebrated the memories, music and people that surrounded the culture of the Lost Chord and the impact this iconic record store had on the Mankato music scene and the broader cultural changes during the times of 1971 -1984.
On August 30, 2015 we lost Mark Weinstein to a rapid 17 day bout of kidney cancer and his life celebration memorial supported ECHO food shelf, because as Mark said and lived, ” No one should go hungry.”
In August 2020, his sons Steve Neitge and David Weinstein with 35 years of community hockey connections launched the inaugural ECHO food shelf Hockey Spectacular Tournament at All Seasons Arena. Over six years, they have raised over $130,ooo to support understanding of food insecurity and ending hunger in the South Central area.
Now it’s been 15 years since the last Lost Chord Reunion and 10 years without Mark, so we kids along with his widow Merry Finseth, Pat Hentges, Dale Haefner and all the City Mouse friends gotta get folks together. Let’s do it again!
We continue to partner with ECHO food shelf and are thrilled to have you join our Hoo’s Hungry edition of the Lost Chord Reunion and look forward to an evening filled with music that celebrates the legacy of the Lost Chord.
