Loosely based on the underwritten women of the Torah, THE MATRIARCHS by Liba Vaynberg charts the journey of six friends as they grow up and out of the orthodoxy. This is a play about girls, gods, mothers, and other creators: for anyone who doesn’t always know what to believe in.

From the creators of THE RUSSIAN & THE JEW at the tank and ROUND TABLE at 59e59, this play was originally developed with the Civilians and winner of the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference. THE MATRIARCHS is produced by Anna & Kitty, Inc., Elliot Joseph, and Theaterlab Presents with generous support from the Bronx Cultural Visions Fund, ART/NY, and the Venturous Theater Fund.
