Chacarera: Beyond Basics
Are you ready to dance Chacarera with greater confidence and creativity? Would you like to deepen your connection to the music, express yourself more freely, and discover new possibilities within the dance?
Join us for a Chacarera workshop where we will focus on:
>>Introducing simple variations for zapateo and zarandeo
>>Improving movement quality and musical interpretation
>>Exploring creative variations for each section of the basic structure
>>Enhancing connection with your partner
Our aim is to inspire you to see the richness, depth, and possibilities of folklore dances. To equip you with tools and ideas to make Chacarera your own unique expression.
About Dom:
Dom lived in Argentina for 7 years before moving back to San Francisco. While dancing tango and studying at the conservatory in Buenos Aires, he became immersed in the folkloric scene and eventually made a trip to Northern Argentina (Tucuman, Salta, Purmamarca, Jujuy) to connect with some of the birthplaces of Argentine folklore. The music and the dance of folklore has a lot to do with the connection to the earth (Pachamama), the people (el pueblo), and the culture of northern Argentina. Folklore encompasses a different energy that is very complementary to tango. Dom would love to do nothing more than to share his passion with the US community.
About Amelia:
Amelia is a tango and folklore dancer based in Princeton, NJ. She became enchanted with the rich artistry of Argentine folklore in 2016, and ever since has learned about these beautiful dances through the inspiration and generosity of teachers and musicians around the world. Amelia is excited to share this knowledge with dancers as a gateway to begin exploring the rich and diverse world of Argentine folklore.
