WCEI Queensland The Brisbane Portrait Prize
Step inside the world of artistic excellence with WCEI Queensland as we enjoy a tour of the prestigious 2025 Brisbane Portrait Prize, coming up, close and personally with artistic representations of local heroes and identities.
Our very own WCEI QLD Member, Margaret Campbell Ryder will guide us through the exhibition as we discover extraordinary works up close, connect with fellow members in an inspiring cultural setting, and experience one of Brisbane’s most celebrated art events through the WCEI lens. Catherine Baudet, a former National and Queensland President will be our host for the evening .
At this event, we will be taking the opportunity to farewell our current State President, Suzanne Bosanquet, as she concludes her two year term in the role.
Margaret Campbell Ryder is the dynamic business owner of Red Hill Art Gallery, who is looking forward to celebrating the gallery’s 40th year in 2026. The gallery represents over 120 Australian artists in various genres, many of them are highly acclaimed internationally. She is a member of the highly esteemed International Association of Women Art Dealers. Her mantra for her business, which makes her our perfect guide for the evening, is:
We want to share with the world our passion for art and the extraordinary talents of our artists. We take pride in working with our artists, clients, collectors and colleagues alike in a friendly and welcoming environment.
The Brisbane Portrait Prize is all about celebrating Brisbane portrait artists and their sitters, while encouraging public engagement with the arts.
It was established in 2019, making 2026 it’s seventh year.
The Brisbane Portrait Prize:
- Encourages excellence, creates opportunity for artists and increases engagement in the arts, by providing space for artists to explore contemporary portraiture, encompassing notions of story telling in the digital age.
- Encourages artists at every stage of their careers, provides mentoring opportunities, peer and public recognition and career advancement.
- Creates opportunity for audiences to broaden their thinking about their city, the community, and the world, by engaging with the artistic process, and the narratives of the sitters
