Presented by Spectrum Space and supported by a City of Mandurah Community Grant, this free workshop is an opportunity to build a stronger understanding of autism and neurodiversity.
The session will share practical strategies and lived experience to help create spaces that are welcoming, respectful, and supportive of Autistic young people and adults.
The workshop will also give participants the chance to connect with others, hear different perspectives, and take away useful approaches that can be applied in everyday settings.
Whether you are a parent, carer, educator, service provider, or community member, this workshop will provide valuable knowledge to support inclusion and wellbeing.
Topics covered will include:
• Creating more inclusive social and physical environments
• Supporting young people’s wellbeing
• Approaches to prevent and manage escalation
• Understanding different styles of communication
• Strategies for supporting executive functioning and sensory needs
• A Q&A with facilitators who bring lived experience
The session will be interactive and welcoming, with time for questions and discussion. Light refreshments will be provided, and information about local services will be available.
