This webinar provides information, strategies and resources to assist when communicating with your child about how to influence the content they are seeing and how to protect themselves from the potential harms and impacts of recommender systems.

Recommender systems prioritise content or make personalised content suggestions to users of online services. This webinar explores both the benefits and risks of recommender algorithms, including:

• How they can affect the content young people see, shape their feelings and experiences, and influence the choices they make

• How they are designed to keep young people online, and the impact and harms both from the type of content served and from ongoing exposure.

It's suitable for parents and carers of young people in upper primary and secondary school.
