Honoring the Legacy of Maria Orosa and Andres Bonifacio
November 30, 2025 | 123 Block, Mandala Park
We invite everyone to gather, share, and reclaim the nourishment that has always been ours; rooted in our flora, our waters, and our people’s long tradition of Bayanihan. Since its first gathering in UP Diliman in 2024, GPM has grown (like the Katipunan) into a movement carried by solidarity and collective action. From Makiling to Sagada to Sorsogon, each GPM has revealed the vibrant pride and enduring legacy of our heritage food, flora, and fauna, reminding us of the richness we inherit and the responsibility we share to defend it.
GPM Manila honors Maria Orosa, the scientist who transformed humble, local ingredients into life-saving nourishment; embodying a vision of food democracy rooted in ingenuity, community, and cultural pride. We also honor Andres Bonifacio, whose revolutionary imagination insisted that true democracy must rise from the masses; from the very people whose hands cultivate diversity in our fields, protect our seeds, and keep our food heritage alive. Their legacies remind us that defending biodiversity and deepening democracy are inseparable from the struggle for food sovereignty.
GPM remains a space where everyone; farmers, advocates, families, cooks, youth, artists, and communities can come together to celebrate our abundant flora, defend our food systems, and imagine sustainable, sovereign futures.
