UNRULY WOMEN: Heather Mottershead & Jessie Elland in conversation
Join us for an evening of unhinged women and the chaos they leave in their wake!

About this Event

We're devilishly excited to welcome Heather Mottershead and Jessie Elland to Blackwell's on Monday 3rd November to discuss their brazen, brilliant novels No Women Were Harmed and The Ladie Upstairs. These dark and twisted tales are perfect for anyone who has ever used the hashtags #femgore, #feral and #unhingedwomen, and we can't wait to hear Heather and Jessie discuss them with Emma Hinds (author of Witchlore).

Doors: 6.30pm, Starts: 6.45pm

Tickets are £4 or free when buying a Book & Ticket option, or when purchasing a copy of either book in store.

About No Women Were Harmed:

Named after the funeral flower, Lily has walked hand-in-hand with death for as long as she can remember.

But the fact that death has chosen to follow her through life can hardly be conceived as her fault.

Certainly she cannot be expected to take the blame for the slew of missing men in her wake.

In fact, Lily is in no doubt that there has been some terrible mistake, and she will be released from this asylum any day now.

About The Ladie Upstairs:

Scullery drudge Ann longs to become a lady's maid. Ann can't quite remember how or when she arrived at the grand Ropner Hall, but she loathes spending her days toiling in the dank kitchen. When a chance meeting with Ropner's Lady Charlotte leads to the opportunity to become her personal maid, Ann is convinced she has finally escaped her own version of hell. But has she? As Ann's new life above stairs takes a sinister twist, will it turn out that the terrors lurking up there are worse than the devils she knows below?Jessie Elland's deeply visceral debut is a dark and twisted tale of ambition and desire. Are you brave enough to enter Ropner Hall?

About the authors:

Winner of the Daily Mail First Novel competition, Heather Mottershead lives in Shropshire. Having been an accountant for more years than she cares to remember, she undertook a part-time History and English BA degree in 2009. Her debut novel, No Women Were Harmed, was born out of her love for both historical research and the county in which she resides.

Jessie Elland is an actress and author from the North East of England. An avid bookworm from the moment she could read, Jessie spent most of her childhood dreaming of writing books and scribbling down half-finished stories.

If you cannot make the event but would like a dedicated copy of the book, please email ZXZlbnRzICEgbWFuY2hlc3RlciB8IGJsYWNrd2VsbCAhIGNvICEgdWs= or call us on 0161 274 3331.

Our event format is usually a 45 minute discussion between the author and interviewer, followed by a chance for audience members to ask questions. There will be the opportunity to get your book signed/dedicated after the event. Events are a brilliant opportunity to discover new books, meet authors and likeminded readers and learn something new.
