MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday, September 25th, 2025, Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam continues its popular open mic poetry series at Stark Brewing Company. This week, there will be a special event: IT'S NOT THE YEARS, IT'S THE MILEAGE - celebrating 20 years of Slam Free or Die! Because this is a special event, there will be $5 cover and this is an all-ages show. (*for more details on Slam Free or Die, scroll to the bottom of this description)
About the event:
20 years of Slam Free or Die! It's a lot to celebrate. So instead of doing the normal open mic and feature/slam, this show will have a special format. The night will feature a showcase of poets from across all 20 years of Slam Free or Die's history and a shortened open mic with readers being selected by random draw! The showcase will include specially selected poets who have helped define what Slam Free or Die was and would become returning to the mic for a retrospective of two decades of amazing writing and performance!

YOU ASKED! WE HEARD YOU! After an overwhelming response from folks asking if they could read, we decided to make open mic sign-ups available to everyone, not just new or first time readers, but… there’s a twist!
Because we still don’t have the ability to make the night longer (*shakes fist at linear time!) and open mic slots will be extremely limited, to make it fair, everyone who wants to can sign up starting at 7pm when doors open. Sign-ups will close at 7:55pm.
When the show begins, the names of all those who signed up will go in a bucket and we will randomly select each reader in the open mic live on stage. You may not end up getting picked, but you'll have the same chance as everyone else and we will get as many people up as time allows. So if you want to read, get there early and put your name in for the drawing!
Once again, open mic slots will be extremely limited (compared to a normal night) and readers will be restricted to a hard 3 minutes to allow us to get the maximum amount of readers to the stage.

Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm.
