Foraging for beginners - Fungi and more!

Discover the fascinating world of fungi and plants.

Hi, I’m Ladislav (Lad for short). I grew up in Slovakia, where mushroom picking is part of everyday life and culture. My fascination with fungi started in childhood and grew into a lifelong passion. Today, I teach courses in foraging, mushroom cultivation, and mycelium-based materials—and I’d love to share that passion with you.

What to Expect
Join me on a magical guided walk through diverse habitats, where I’ll introduce you to the incredible world of fungi. Along the way, you’ll learn:

• How to confidently identify wild mushrooms in the field and at home
• The key characteristics of fungi (with guidebooks and mobile apps to help)
• Which species are edible, medicinal, or useful in everyday life
• Fascinating facts about one of nature’s most mysterious kingdoms

Why Join?
Whether you’re new to foraging or already love the outdoors, this walk will give you the skills and confidence to start your own journey into the fascinating world of fungi.

We’ll take a circular walk of around the lake, moving at a slow pace so there’s plenty of time to stop, explore, and ask questions.If we are lucky, we’ll have the chance to collect some of the more abundant finds to cook and enjoy at home.

What to bring (optional):

• A packed lunch / snacks
• A walking stick for uneven ground
• A camera or notebook to record discoveries
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Sturdy walking boots to avoid slips or injuries but also to keep you dry
