Day of the Dead

We’re thrilled to bring you Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), a unique and ancient Mexican tradition that honours our loved ones who have passed away.

In Mexican culture, it is believed that during this time of year, our ancestors return to visit, and families welcome them with open arms. We’ll be preparing their favourite dishes, dancing to lively music, and sharing stories that keep their memory alive.

• Traditional Dances: Colibrí Mexican Folkdance UK will mesmerise you with their energetic performances.
• Day of the Dead Activities: Join in with themed crafts, workshops, and games.
• Mexican Altar Display: at Instituto Cervantes Manchester, lovingly crafted to welcome our ancestors. The altar will be on display from Friday, 24 October to Thursday, 6 November.

Programme - Manchester Central Library :

• 1:00 PM – Story Time: .
• 1:30 PM – Piñata: For children aged 0 to 7.
• 1:30–2:45 PM – Crafts & Traditional Face Painting.
• 3:00 PM – Performance by Colibrí Mexican Folkdance UK.

This is a free, drop-in event suitable for all ages.

Te presentamos el Día de Muertos, una tradición mexicana única y ancestral que honra a nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido.

En la cultura mexicana, se cree que durante esta época del año nuestros ancestros regresan para visitarnos, y las familias los reciben con los brazos abiertos.

Prepararemos sus platillos favoritos, bailaremos al ritmo de música alegre y compartiremos historias que mantienen viva su memoria.

• Danzas tradicionales: Colibrí Mexican Folkdance UK te sorprenderá con sus actuaciones llenas de energía.
• Actividades del Día de Muertos: Participa en talleres, manualidades y juegos temáticos.
• Ofrenda mexicana: Visita el impresionante altar de muertos en el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester, cuidadosamente elaborado para dar la bienvenida a nuestros ancestros. La ofrenda estará expuesta desde el viernes, 24 de octubre hasta el jueves, 6 de noviembre.

• 13:30 h – Piñata: para niños de 0 a 7 años.
• 13:30 a 14:45 h – Manualidades y pintura de cara tradicional.
