Delhi-Karnal-Chandigarh-Bilaspur-Sundernagar-Mandi-Pandoh Dam-Kullu-Manali-Solang Valley-Atal Tunnel- ( Lahaul Valley) and back
Starting from the out skirts of New Delhi the capital City of India...This 1000 BRM ride will cut through NH44 for the first 200 kms and then enter the state of Punjab at the out skirts of Chandigarh/Mohali.
Going past Khiratpur the route will embark the climbs of Himalayas soon after entering the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Cutting though the recently constructed 14 tunnels on Chandigarh Manali Highway with spectacular scenic beauties of the Himalayas and Fresh water rivers gushing down the verdant green mountains makes this ride comfortable and enjoyable.
Serpentining Beas river on one side and the rock solid Himalays on the other .....this will be a ride to remember.
The ride will brush past the quaint little towns of Bilaspur,Mandi,Sundarnagar, and get onto the other side of Beas river at Pandoh Dam.
Quickly touching 400 km mark at Kullu (Bhunter Airport)the rides gets technical and challenging from here on for the last 100 kms with undulating steep gradients and relentless climbs.....reaching the snow covered valley of Manali is a treat indeed at 550 km
The Last push- Manalai - Atal Tunnel
This section/segment of 35 kms to the mouth of South Pullu/Mouth of Atal tunnel is again a relentless climb via the Solang Valley.
Atal Tunnel ( Rohtang) at 12000 ft . You will get to the south face of this 10 Km long tunnel at about 585 km mark . Sitting deeply carved under Rohtang pass at 12000 feet this tunnel pretty much defines the end of Kullu District ( Manali) and start of Lahaul Valley on the other side of the Tunnel ...which is also the gateway to Ladakh.
