Join us November 8 as we honor three decades of Art Ability, a groundbreaking initiative at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital that champions artists with disabilities and transforms lives through creativity.
This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as we spotlight one of our featured patients, Christy Lazer, whose remarkable recovery journey embodies the spirit of Art Ability.
Just months ago, Christy was watching her son’s baseball game in Virginia when a sudden, severe headache revealed a ruptured brain aneurysm. After emergency surgery and complications, she was minimally conscious and facing long odds. But her husband Preston refused to give up.
Through a connection with Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, Christy found a team that believed in her potential. With innovative therapies and compassionate care, including art therapy, Christy began to communicate again, drawing hearts and writing messages that showed she was still very much present.
Christy’s recovery defied expectations. She found strength not only in medical care but in unexpected places like the hospital’s greenhouse and the Art Ability exhibit. Today, she’s back home with her family, a living testament to the healing power of belief, perseverance, and art.
