RESET: A Retreat for Young Men (18-40)
A Science2Perform × Nature’s Elements Wellness Collaboration
Nature’s Elements Wellness, Mallorytown, Ontario
March 13-15, 2026
Device-Free | Substance-Free
Why RESET Exists:
Many young men today are struggling with low energy, poor sleep, lack of motivation, emotional and physiological dysregulation, and increasing reliance on short-term coping behaviors such as excessive screen use, processed food, alcohol, or substances.
These challenges are rarely about laziness, weakness, or lack of discipline. They are increasingly understood as the result of chronic nervous system stress, disrupted dopamine signaling, declining metabolic health, hormonal imbalance, and a broader socio-cultural environment that disconnects young men from their bodies, from purpose, and from one another. RESET exists to intervene early and intelligently before these patterns harden into long-term dysfunction.
RESET IS:
A science-informed, evidence-based retreat
Device-free and substance-free
Structured, supervised, and intentionally paced
Focused on education, embodiment, and self-regulation
Designed to build agency, responsibility, and grounded confidence
RESET is NOT:
Therapy, group counseling, or life coaching
A bootcamp or “toughen up” experience
A motivational seminar
A medical or diagnostic program
The Science2Perform Approach
At Science2Perform, our work centers on improving physiological and neurocognitive literacy- helping individuals understand how the brain, body, and their behavior interact under stress, and how to regulate those systems effectively. RESET bridges science with real-world application in a structured, embodied environment where participants can:
Learn how their nervous system actually works
Understand motivation, habit formation, and fatigue through a biological lens
Experience regulation, recovery, and healthy challenges
Build connection through shared experiences
The Facilitation Model
Science • Strength • Somatic Regulation
RESET is guided by a multidisciplinary facilitation team that integrates:
Together, this team creates an environment that is safe, structured, and deeply practical- bridging understanding with lived experience.
What Participants Will Experience
Over the weekend, participants engage in:
The environment is designed to be calm, grounded, and supportive- not intense oroverwhelming.
Food as Performance
Food is treated as a core pillar of performance and wellbeing, not an afterthought. All meals are prepared by a private chef using whole, nutrient-dense foods. Meals support stable energy, cognitive function, hormonal balance, and recovery.
Participants will learn:
Baseline Assessments (Education-Focused)
Participants complete a suite of baseline physiological and neurocognitive assessments to make the science personal and actionable. These are not diagnostic and not competitive.
Included Baselines:
These tools help participants understand how stress, sleep, habits, and recovery directly influence performance and regulation.
All results are:
Device-Free & Substance-Free Environment
RESET is intentionally device-free and substance-free.
Why this matters:
Parents receive a direct emergency contact for the facilitation team.
Core Intentions:
RESET helps young men move from:
Chaos → Control
Stimulation → Strength
Reactivity → Regulation
Disconnection → Embodied self-trust
This is about grounded masculinity: calm, responsible, regulated, and self-directed.
Who RESET Is For:
RESET is well-suited for young men who:
*It may not be appropriate for individuals in acute crisis or requiring clinical intervention.
Final Note to Parents & Stakeholders
RESET is not about fixing young men.
It is about equipping them with understanding, skills, discipline, and agency.
RESET’S FACILITATION TEAM
Elizabeth Ionita
Elizabeth is the Head of Strategy and Market Development for Science2Perform, where she leads the design, marketing, and delivery of science-informed, trauma-aware retreats and training programs focused on education, building agency and resilience, and connecting the mind and body. With a background spanning psychology, human capital strategy and organizational development, Elizabeth translates complex scientific research into practical, immersive experiences that support real change. Her work bridges science, application, and lived experiences, creating spaces where participants feel both challenged and supported. Elizabeth is deeply committed to building environments rooted in safety, clarity, and connection- where individuals can step out of survival mode, reconnect with themselves, and begin the work of sustainable regulation and recovery.
Dr. François Haman, PhD
François is a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa and a leading researcher in human physiology, specializing in stress biology, thermoregulation, and human performance under extreme conditions. At Science2Perform, Dr. Haman serves in a voluntary capacity, contributing the scientific foundation that informs the design of evidence-based, applied training and retreat experiences. With decades of laboratory and field research, François bridges fundamental science and real-world application, helping participants understand how physiology directly influences stress, decision-making, recovery, and long-term health. His approach emphasizes clarity over complexity and science over trends. François is committed to restoring science as a reliable guide- empowering individuals to make informed, sustainable lifestyle choices rooted in how the human body actually works.
Alain Guimond
Alain is a mentor and advisor with Science2Perform, bringing deep lived experience from a nearly 20-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces and JTF2, and a personal journey through recovery, resilience, and reintegration. He plays a key role in supporting participants through grounded mentorship and peer-based guidance. He is also the founder of a veterans and first responder peer-support initiative ELEVATE (NCR). Drawing from both operational experience and long-term healing work, Alain helps translate concepts of regulation, accountability, and resilience into realities participants can relate to and embody. His presence bridges science with human experience, fostering trust and authenticity within the group. Alain is deeply committed to creating spaces where men feel safe to show up honestly, reconnect with themselves, and rebuild strength through community, responsibility, and shared understanding.
Dan de Luis
Dan is a movement, breathwork, and mindfulness facilitator with Science2Perform, supporting participants in developing embodied awareness and practical regulation skills. His work focuses on reconnecting individuals to their nervous systems through breath, movement, and stillness. He is also the co-founder of Nature’s Elements Wellness - an outdoor Scandinavian spa rooted in nature-based therapies and holistic practices. With experience guiding diverse populations, Dan blends evidence-based practices with intuitive facilitation, helping participants access tools that support presence, recovery, and self-regulation. His sessions emphasize simplicity, safety, and direct experience over performance or perfection. Dan is dedicated to creating grounded, restorative spaces where participants can slow down, listen to their bodies, and cultivate resilience through conscious movement and breath.
ABOUT SCIENCE2PERFORM (S2P)
“Where Science Becomes Performance”
Science2Perform is an organization dedicated to human performance and resilience training, helping individuals and teams operate effectively under pressure- physically, cognitively, and emotionally. We exist at the intersection of science, lived experience, and real-world application.
Our work is grounded in human physiology, stress biology, and neurocognitive sciences, translating decades of research into practical tools that can be applied in demanding professions and everyday life. S2P delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed immersive experiences designed to improve stress tolerance, decision-making, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. Our programs serve high-performance, high-stress populations, including military personnel, veterans, first responders, corporate leaders, and athletes.
Our Philosophy
At Science2Perform, we believe performance is not about doing more, but about regulating better and more efficiently. Modern life demands that humans function in ways our biology was never designed for: chronic stress, constant stimulation, and limited recovery. Our approach restores what modern systems often remove:
● Embodiment: Reconnecting people to how their bodies actually function
● Self-Awareness: Understanding stress responses before they become problems
● Physiological Literacy: Learning to regulate signals rather than ignore them
● Challenge + Recovery: Using stress as a tool, not a threat
Resilience is not about suppressing emotions- it is the capacity to adapt, recover, and respond effectively, again and again.
