This week is all about connecting with nature, getting creative with natural and recycled materials, and meeting some fascinating wildlife friends! With hands-on crafting, outdoor adventures, and a special visit from Basil Farm, you’ll explore the natural world up close while discovering new skills and having a blast. Let’s get digging, building, and creating!
Monday – Bug Hotels & Alligator Cupcakes
We’ll start the week by crafting our very own bug hotels from recycled materials — perfect little homes for the bugs we’ll collect during our adventures in the park. After morning safety talks and outdoor playtime, it’s time to refuel with lunch followed by baking some fun alligator cupcakes for dinner pudding. The afternoon includes gym equipment challenges, sports on the field, forest exploring, and a special Maidenhead United football session. We’ll wrap up the day with an energetic game of cricket — a great way to get moving and enjoy the fresh air.
Tuesday – Bugs, Crafts & Basil Farm Visit
Today is a real highlight — the wonderful team from Basil Farm will be joining us today! We’ll dive into nature-themed activities including junk modelling bugs and creating peg crocodiles with a variety of materials. After a snack break and the Basil Farm visit, the afternoon is full of colourful craft fun making rainbow spider webs with threading and biodegradable glitter, plus creating pasta snakes. Outdoor free play, mud kitchen fun, and a game of football will round out this busy and brilliant day.
Wednesday – Reptile Surprise
After morning registration and snack, we’ll take a walk to Oaken Grove Park for a picnic lunch surrounded by nature. In the morning, you’ll make your own reptiles from clay, ready to paint after a very special visit from the Reptile Man in the afternoon — bringing some live reptiles for us to meet and learn about.
Thursday – Marlow Park Adventure
Thursday’s trip to Marlow Park is always a highlight for our Discovery group. After the morning register, we’ll travel by train to the park, where the kids love the freedom to explore wide open spaces and enjoy the brand-new playground. We’ll have a picnic lunch by the pond, feed the ducks, and soak up the fresh air before a quick wander around the charming nearby town — perfect for discovering new sights and grabbing a treat. The afternoon finishes with a lively game of Bench Ball, rounding off a day full of fun, freedom, and exploration.
Friday – Creative Crafts & Sticky Science
Our final day is full of creativity and science! You’ll get to try organic, chemical-free henna designs — a fun way to express yourself with natural colours. Collage sticking lets you create colourful masterpieces, while making crayon-on-canvas frames offers a unique keepsake to take home. After lunch, enjoy gym equipment challenges, sports on the field, and forest exploration. We’ll also experiment with a sticky web science experiment — a gooey, fascinating way to end the week. We will finish off the day with a spirited game of Rounders to celebrate a week full of discovery and fun.
